Vintage Navajo Stamped Silver Hinged Box; Circa 1930s-40s. A rare find; this rectangular box is constructed from silver with traditional hand-stamped detailing along the sides and lid. Common in pre-WWII years; the same stamping motifs carried over to silver jewelry during this era as well. Crescent shaped stamps line the four walls of the body. The top of the lid incorporates a striped border with a raised oval at its center; reminiscent of other examples where stones were often applied. A latch at the front is used to keep the lid closed; with unique butterfly hinges on the rear. The box weighs 244. 5 grams. Unsigned.
