Accessibility at Vêtir

Vêtir is committed to making its website and iOS app accessible to everyone, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control and keyboard-only navigation. We want every customer to be able to browse, search, shop and use our styling tools with ease.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA (opens in a new tab), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG is the internationally recognised standard for accessible web content and is the benchmark referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508.

What we have done

  • Built accessibility into the site's and the app's own code — we do not rely on third-party accessibility "overlay" widgets.
  • Interactive controls are built to be reachable and operable with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator; we walk the shopping journey by keyboard and screen reader with each release.
  • A "Skip to main content" link, page landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and a logical heading structure on every page.
  • Text alternatives for product and editorial images, and accessible names for icon controls.
  • Dialogs, menus and bottom sheets that announce themselves, keep focus inside while open, close with Escape and return focus when dismissed.
  • Text and interface colours that meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
  • Support for browser zoom up to 400% and for the operating-system "reduce motion" preference (auto-playing carousels pause).
  • Form fields with programmatic labels, autofill hints and error messages that are announced to assistive technology.
  • Automated WCAG checks (axe-core) in our test suite so regressions are caught before release, alongside manual testing with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.

Known limitations

Some content is provided by third parties — for example payment fields, social sign-in buttons and embedded videos. We work with those providers and choose accessible options where they exist, but we cannot always control their internals. Our shoppable and editorial videos do not yet have captions or transcripts; every player has pause and mute controls, and captions are being added progressively — this page will record the date they are complete.

The Vêtir iOS app is presented in portrait orientation. Its content — full-bleed fashion photography, try-on video and closet imagery — is composed for that frame, which WCAG 1.3.4 recognises as an essential use; VoiceOver, Switch Control, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion all work in portrait.

Technical information

This website is built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA; the iOS app is built with React Native and uses the platform accessibility APIs, so VoiceOver, Switch Control, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion are supported. The site is designed to work with current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, and with assistive technologies including VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and TalkBack.
